Milwaukee’s Magnificent Bride Show
I’ve heard about the Milwaukee Magnificent Bride show for several years before I found the right man, acquired the diamond, and started to think about the type of wedding I was really going to host. Finally, I could legitimately attend the wedding event at the Pfister, and I was elated.
My fiancée came along for the adventure, and I was glad he was preparing to get involved in the planning process, until I realized he was probably there for the cake that comes along with a bridal show.
When we arrived, I was immediately impressed by the level of style and class at each stop along the way. From friendly, smiling faces at the registration desk, to the helpful staff getting us up the elevator, I felt that we’d wandered into a private party. The waiter that held out champagne for us as we reached the seventh floor was dressed impeccably, as if we were VIPs arriving right on time, and I suddenly thought that we should’ve dressed up a bit more.
Glancing at the very beautiful directory, I made my way to the Imperial Ballroom first, determined not to miss a thing. Along the way, chic vendor tables were set up with beautiful displays, and we had to stop briefly to take a peek at some elegant invitations. While the vendor at the table was friendly and helpful, I didn’t feel the hurry or pressure to move along to make room for others.
While we made our way along the hall, I saw a sign detailing the next start time for a seminar given by Milwaukee wedding planner extraordinaire David Caruso of Dynamic Events. Peeking in, I saw the beautifully decorated room was already half-full; we’d have to make sure we doubled back in time to get a seat.
Once we entered the ballroom, my fiancée hurried off to find some cake while I was tempted by the many choices of passed appetizers. Pinching something from another friendly server, I started to talk to photographers about different styles of photography available for my wedding when my fiancée arrived, juggling two plates of cake on china, served with real silverware, as well as a fancy martini concoction from one of the bartending vendors.
We spent some time looking over the collaborative tables – one even had an elephant centerpiece made entirely out of flowers – which had me then start to notice the amount of floral in both ballrooms of the Pfister. Every booth was beautifully and artfully decorated with any number of live blooms. I had to know who did the work, and soon realized it was the product of the florists featured at the event.
By now, I’d lost my fiancée, but soon found him eating another piece of cake, checking out some very cool lighting and lounge displays. We discussed options with the very knowledgeable owners, but by then I was getting a sugar rush. On the way to pick up a fresh espresso, one of the models wearing a beautiful wedding gown brushed past us, and I had to stop her to find out where I could find the same dress.
By this time, we’d done the seminars and tried every flavor of cake available. Taking one last picture of the decorated tables, I checked my bag to make sure I had the new issue of the Veil Magazine and business cards of all the vendors I was planning to call on Monday. As we walked out, holding hands and already discussing what kind of wine we’ll serve at our wedding dinner. Finally, I’d been to Milwaukee’s Magnificent Bride event as a bride; it was everything I’d hoped, and more.
